Checklist before publishing a product passport
A practical review of product identity, evidence, visibility, versions, and QR destination before a passport becomes public.
Publishing makes product details easier to access. Before approving a public version, take time for a subject-matter review. This checklist is a working aid, not a substitute for a product-specific legal assessment.
Product and responsibility
- Do product name, model, SKU, and available identifiers match the intended product scope?
- Are manufacturer, brand, or importer details current and reviewed by an authorized person?
- Is it clear whether the record represents a model, batch, or individual item?
Content and evidence
- Does each material field have a known source or responsible owner?
- Are material, origin, repair, and recycling statements supported where used?
- Are missing or unverified values left open rather than guessed?
- Has someone checked which requirements apply to the product group and market?
Public visibility
- Is every field deliberately marked public or internal?
- Does the page exclude confidential supplier files, access details, and unnecessary personal data?
- Do supporting documents remain private when only a derived value should be shared?
- Have uploaded files passed their scan, and is their status known?
Preview, version, and QR
- Does the preview show the intended product record and language?
- Are the layout and mobile view readable?
- Does the QR code open the expected public version?
- Is it clear who reviews changes and when a new version should be published?
In DPP Direct, publishing creates a separate immutable version. Recheck its public link afterwards. A correctly rendered passport does not confirm legal compliance.
For practical steps, use the help on publication and versions. Before adding publications, check your plan’s active passport capacity; earlier versions do not count as extra active passports.
